With a dedicated group of parents, Carbondale New School offers students many opportunities to extend their learning. Classes go on frequent field trips to museums, archaeological sites, cultural events, state parks, local businesses, and libraries, as well as overnight campouts. The school also gathers many times during the year to enjoy all-school assemblies, guest performers, and other group and community activities.
Students may join the garden club, create a yearbook or work on the school newspaper, participate in Audubon Society activities, or join with their parents in the Creative Olympiad, in which student/parent teams engage in a challenging, fun evening of problem-solving. Students produce science projects that are presented to the school and parents. They also can compete in a multi-school track and field competition.
