CNS MAY 2008 NEWSLETTER

This will be the last official newsletter of the school year. However, since there are so many activities planned, please watch for further up-dates. There are only a few busy weeks left of school, so please keep your calendars handy and remember to check the main calendar in the lobby everyday.

Track Meets

(May 2th & 9th)

This year the students in 1st - 8th will be involved in track meets. The track meet for the 5th - 8th graders has been rescheduled to Monday, May 12th from 11:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., and on Friday May 9th for the 1st- 4th graders from 11:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., at the Murphysboro High School. You are welcome to attend and cheer on our participants. Please be sure that your child wears the proper shoes/clothes. After the track meets in Murphysboro, there will be a trip to Dairy Queen to celebrate. Please make sure you send money with your child for a well deserved treat. Drivers areneeded; the sign up sheet is in the foyer. The teachers need to be back from M'Boro by 2:00 p.m., so please help to drive and chaperone.

Work Day

(Sat. May 3rd from 8:00am -?)

In preparation of the upcoming Open House etc., there is a work day scheduled for this Saturday. The information has also been sent to each family via e-mail. Please plan to come and spend some time working on some well needed repairs. Any amount of time that you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Science/History Fair/Art Show

& Open House

(May 5th )

The Science/History Fair/ Art Show and Open House will be Monday, May 5th from 6:30- 8:00P.M. This is a big night for all of the students who have worked so hard on their displays. Please plan to attend to show your support and recognize their efforts. If you know of prospective parents and children, please invite them.

End of the Year School Trip

May 7th

St. Louis Zoo

There is an all school field trip planned to the St. Louis Zoo. For all the students in PreK - 4th a charter bus has been reserved. However, we will need several chaperons especially for the younger group. The 6th - 8th grade students will travel in individual cars. The reason we need to separate the group is the size of the bus. There is a sign-up sheet located on the desk in the foyer to help us know who will help drive and those to help chaperone. We're trying to keep the cost reasonable, so as soon as I know the number of people, I can calculate the cost.

Early Dismissal

Friday, May 9th at 2:00pm.

This is the same day as the 1st- 4th track meet. The rest of the students will dismiss at 2:00 pm and the 1st - 4th should be back at school around 3:30.

Book Swap

Mon., May 12th

We are asking that all students bring a book on Monday, May 12th for a book swap. Students will be given the opportunity to leave a book and pick up another book.

Graduation / Recognition

(May 28th)

All of our students will be recognized for their accomplishments at a 6:30 P.M. ceremony on Thursday, May 28th at Quigley Auditorium in the Quigley

Building at SIU. Further details will be sent home as the date approaches.
