Welcome Back!!!! We hope you had a wonderful and safe holiday season!
DRESS WARM ! COLD WEATHER POLICY
I'd like to explain our policy and practice concerning cold weather. When the outside temperature is 30 degrees or above the staff will take the children outside unless wind, dampness, precipitation etc....makes it unbearable. If the temperature is slightly below 30 degrees and the sun is out, we may take some or all of the students outside for a short time to get some fresh air. However, there is a group of kids (parents, I'm sure you know who I'm talking about) that would go out if they can find an adult crazy enough to supervise them and play in the frigid air!
The children are outside at various times of the day (before school, recess, lunch time, after school) because fresh air and a time to exert energy are important. Please be sure they come prepared with hats, mittens, boots, and especially warm coats. You may want to send an extra change of clothes especially for the younger children. Please put names on all items. Please talk to your child(ren) and help explain this policy. Also discuss the importance of wearing appropriate clothing for outside play. This will provide support to the staff when they ask the children to put on their warm clothes. All children will be going outside unless a daily written note is sent because of illness and given to the before school staff or the office. With the cold and flu season upon us, please do not send your child to school if they have a fever. If your child is sick remember to call the office to let us know. Thanks!

Snow Days-Where to Listen
Please remember, in the event of severe winter weather, school cancellations will be announced on WSIU-FM (91.9), WQUL (97.7), and WINI-AM (1420) radio stations; and on WSIL (channel 3), KFVS (channel 12), and WPSD (Channel 6) on the television. Please do not assume that CNS will be closed even if other area schools cancel classes. Please feel free to contact Linda or your child's teacher at home to confirm a cancellation if you are in question.
Yearbook
Orders for this year's yearbook will begin in late January. As an incentive to order yearbooks early, the cost of a 2008-09 yearbook if made before February 1st will be $13.00. After February 1st the cost will be $15.00, the same as last year. Sorry about the delay of the 2007-08 yearbooks, but word has it that they will be out shortly.
