Thanksgiving Feast - Nov. 26th
Looks like the details are all falling into place! We have all of the turkeys, thanks to the Robinson-Spees, Henderson, Young and Daughton-Stucky families. The students will begin cooking on Monday,11/24 and Tuesday,11/25. There is a sign-up sheet located on the wall of the main stairs for volunteers. We need people to help set up on Wednesday morning. We also need people to help pick up tables and chairs from the Church of the Good Shepard on Tuesday and return them on Wednesday after the dinner. At least a couple of trucks are necessary to haul the tables and chairs.
You should be receiving information from your child(ren)'s teacher as to what ingredients are needed, if any, for their class dish. The classes will be preparing the following dishes:
Pre K/1 - Home-made butter and salad
2/3 - Home-made dinner rolls
4/5 - Mashed potatoes
6/7/8 - Pumpkin pies
If you're attending the feast, please bring a pot-luck dish, with a serving utensil.
Cups, plates, utensils, and napkins will be provided.
Basically, here's the scoop...........
Family Reading Time will take place from 10:30 -11:00. If possible come in early and take advantage of this opportunity to sit down, relax, and read with your child.
When you arrive (NO LATER THAN 11:00 a.m.) on Wednesday, take your pot-luck dish upstairs to either the 6/7/8 grade classroom or the conference room (this is where the food will be located). When it is time to eat, gather your child/family and begin to serve yourselves from either of those rooms. Then head downstairs to the playroom or the lunchroom and enjoy your meal!
If you can't join us, please plan to pick up your child by 12:00 p.m., as there is
NO AFTER-SCHOOL program.
Parking and Traffic Flow:
On Wednesday, parking will be available on the soccer and baseball areas of the playground (weather permitting). Please take care not to block entry, exits or other vehicles. As always, please do not stop and park in the middle of the parking lot, pull into a spot. When cars are parked so that the traffic cannot flow easily, it creates chaos and frustration. When entering the parking lot use the West drive and exit by the East drive, this will give you better visibility when leaving the parking lot and again create a safer traffic flow.
Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Parent/Teacher conference sheets are located outside each classroom door. Please take a few minutes a sign up for a specific time.
Strategic Planning Committee Survey:
A few weeks ago, this survey (blue paper) was sent to each family. The committee is ready to begin meeting. If you are interested in being part of this important committee, please fill out and return the form. There are extra explanations/surveys located in the foyer.
One Cause (former School Pop):
If you're one of those folks that like to begin holiday shopping early, don't forget to sign into www.onecause.com for all your online purchases. Just go to that website, click on join, and fill in CNS information. Remember we get a percentage of what you spend.
Lost & Found:
The box is overflowing!!!! I will try and get the clothes out and on the lunchroom tables next week. Please take a moment to see if anything belongs to your child. It is really helpful if you put your child's name on their belongings.
Snacks:
If your child(ren) stay after-school, please remember to pack both a morning and afternoon snack. There are many kids that are hungry at the end of the day, but have nothing to eat.
Any questions, just stop by the office.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM ALL OF US!!!!!!
