CNS MAY 2009 NEWSLETTER
This will be the last official newsletter of the school year. However, since there are so many activities planned, please watch for further up-dates. There are only a few busy weeks left of school, so please keep your calendars handy and remember to check the main calendar in the lobby everyday.
Science/History Fair/Art Show
& Open House
(May 4th )
The Science/History Fair/ Art Show and Open House is tonight (May 4th) from 6:30- 8:00P.M. This is a big night for all of the students who have worked so hard on their displays. Please plan to attend to show your support and recognize their efforts. If you know of prospective parents and children, please invite them.
Track Meets
(Fri., May 8th )
The track meet for the 1st - 4th graders that was scheduled for tomorrow has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. The track meet on Friday, May 8th from noon to 3:00 is still happening. The 5th and 6th graders will be going to the Murphysboro High School. You are welcome to attend and cheer on our participants. After the track meet in Murphysboro, there will be a trip to Dairy Queen to celebrate. Please make sure you send money with your child for a well deserved treat. Thanks to Kathleen for helping to get drivers.
Plant Sale
(Sat. May 9th)
Remember that the plant sale is this Sat., May 9th from 8:00AM to 1:00PM. Thanks to all the parents that have volunteered to help.
Poetry Slam
(Wed. May 13th)
Sign up sheets the poetry slam will go up this week. The competition will be open to ALL CNS students. An entry fee of $5.00 will be charged to pay for prizes. The poetry slam will be held at 6:30PM on Wed., May 13th. All poems must be original.
2nd- 4th Class Play
(Thurs., May 15th )
Laurie's class will be performing a couple of short plays on Thurs., May 15th at 11:15 am. All are welcome!
Board Meeting
(Mon., May 18)
Our next meeting will be at 6:30 PM at school. As always feel free to attend.
Graduation / Recognition
(May, 22nd)
All of our students will be recognized for their accomplishments at a 6:30 P.M. ceremony on Friday, May 22nd at Quigley Auditorium in the Quigley Building at SIU. Further details will be sent home as the date approaches.
2) Picture Day
Due to the rain, the all school and class pictures have been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 6th at 9:00 A.M.
Corporation Meeting/Pot-Luck Dinner
(Wed., May 20h)
To celebrate the end of the year and have our last Corporation meeting, there will be a pot-luck dinner on Wednesday, May 20th at Evergreen Park. (Pine Tree Pavilion) Please bring a dish to share, your own plate and eating utensils, and drinks. We'll begin the meeting at 5:30 pm, with the meal to follow. I know that this is such a busy time for everyone, but it would be nice to gather our CNS family one last time before we break for summer.
Summer Day Camp
(June 8th - July 17th)
We could use your help with the distribution of brochures. If you think you could take some brochures to your work or around town, please stop by the office. Also, if your child(ren) are planning to attend, your registration should be turned into Monique A.S.A.P.
Additional Reminders/Information
1) Our last day of school for PreK-8th is Friday, May 22nd . Students dismiss at NOON with NO AFTERSCHOOL.
3) Travel Reimbursement
The form from the state is in my office waiting for your signature. Don't forget to clock your mileage (one way) and stop by the office. The information needs to be returned to the state at the beginning of June.
4) Lost and Found
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Take a few minutes and go through the "Lost and Found" articles located in the playroom. All unclaimed clothing will be donated at the end of May.
5) Kroger
Remember to purchase your
Kroger cards to use over the summer.
6) Field Trips
The Hammerhead Sharks (PreK - 1st) will be participating in a pond study at Touch of Nature tomorrow.

Laurie's class will have their end of the year party at Laurie's home on Wednesday, May 20th. Watch for details from Laurie
7) Tuition
The invoice you just received is the last time you will be billed for tuition this year. However, the final billing (before & after school, milk, & any field trip costs will be sent home around May 21st. If you want the 2009-10 $100.00 tuition deposit added to this final invoice, please check that request on the pre-registration form. Make sure that you return the form with a $15.00 reg. fee. Your balance should be paid in full before the last day of school (May 22nd ).
8) 2009-2010 Class Configurations
Don't forget to pre-register your child(ren) for next year. Class configuration will depend on student numbers/grades. This is VERY important. A pre-registration form was put in mailboxes last week. If you misplaced the form, you can stop by the office.
